State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County) is taking part in National Children's Book Week by visiting elementary schools in her district and reading to students. The week, which runs from November 6th to 12th, aims to promote reading and early childhood literacy.

Robb Blasdel expressed her enthusiasm for promoting reading and early childhood literacy, stating, "It's been my pleasure to travel across the district to visit our elementary schools promoting reading, especially focused on early childhood literacy. This is an issue I intend to continue to promote at the Statehouse as the effects of positive literacy in our youth transcends into further educational successes."

As a member of the House Finance Committee, Robb Blasdel played a role in advocating for early childhood initiatives in the state budget. Notably, the budget allocated $16 million for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program that sends children one free book each month until they turn 5 years old. The budget also included funding for literacy improvement, professional training for teachers, and the hiring of literacy coaches.

During National Children's Book Week, Robb Blasdel visited several school districts in Columbiana County and Carroll County to read to the students. The districts she visited include Conotton Valley Union Local School District, Brown Local School District, Crestview Local School District, Beaver Local School District, East Palestine City School District, Leetonia Exempted Village School District, and Columbiana Exempted Village School District.

Robb Blasdel's efforts to promote reading and early childhood literacy are commendable. By visiting schools and reading to students, she is not only encouraging a love for reading but also highlighting the importance of literacy in the educational development of young children.
