The Senate has approved House Bill 81, which proposes naming a section of State Route 39 between Carrollton and Dellroy as the "Sheriff Dale R. Williams Memorial Highway." This bill now awaits the Governor's signature.

Sheriff Dale R. Williams passed away during his 18th year in his most recent role. Representative Blasdel commented on the occasion, stating, “While I never had the opportunity to serve directly with Sheriff Williams, I had met him on several occasions, and was privileged to honor him alongside his family, friends and constituents at the Bell-Herron Gymnasium.” He added that Sheriff Williams was "a lifelong public servant dedicated to the county, and his legacy certainly will never be forgotten."

Williams began his career with the Sheriff's Department in 1969 as a dispatcher shortly after graduating from Carrollton High School. He later became a full-time road deputy before joining the Carrollton Police Department, where he was promoted to Sergeant in 1994. In 2004, he was elected as Sheriff and served with dedication to creating a well-trained law enforcement department committed to community protection.

The bill is now pending approval from the Governor.
