State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) announced that Ohio’s fall hunting season will officially begin in September.

“Hunting is a proud tradition in Ohio that brings families and friends together each fall,” said Rep. Robb Blasdel. “I encourage hunters to enjoy a safe and responsible season as we kick off this year’s fall hunting opportunities.”

The 2025 hunting season in Ohio starts on Monday, September 1, with the opening of squirrel (fox, red, and gray), dove, rail (Virginia and sora), snipe, and gallinule seasons. Early Canada goose and early teal seasons open on Saturday, September 6, running through Sunday, September 14. Deer archery season begins on Saturday, September 27.

House Bill 64, supported by members of the Ohio House Majority Caucus, lowers the age for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, and other sportsmen licenses from 66 to 65 years old. The change takes effect on September 30.

Information about obtaining a hunting license and the full schedule can be found online.
