Governor Mike DeWine has signed House Bill 81 into law, as announced by State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel. The legislation honors the late Sheriff Dale R. Williams by designating a section of State Route 39 between Carrollton and Dellroy as the "Sheriff Dale R. Williams Memorial Highway."

Sheriff Williams, who passed away during his 18th year of service in his most recent role, was recognized for his lifelong dedication to public service in Carroll County.

“Sheriff Williams was a lifelong public servant dedicated to the county, and his legacy certainly will never be forgotten,” stated Blasdel. “This bill is just a small way to honor him, and I’m grateful for the Governor’s support.”

Williams began his career with the Sheriff's Department in 1969 as a dispatcher shortly after graduating from Carrollton High School. He later became a full-time road deputy before joining the Carrollton Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant in 1994. In 2004, he was elected Sheriff and served with commitment towards building a well-trained law enforcement department focused on community protection.
