FOIA Request to Columbiana County Regarding FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Youngstown Times have sent a request for records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., to Columbiana County.
The request specifically seeks access to a list of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024. The requested fields include the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA request.
As a media organization deeply involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities notably include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Ohio Open Records Law. We look forward to working with Columbiana County officials in ensuring transparency and accountability within our local government.
