Last week we recognized Dr. Aggarwal for his years of service to the community and declared December 21st “Dr. Aggarwal Day”. Dr. Aggarwal retired this week and we wish him the best in his retirement. Thank you for your dedication to the community.
Dr. Aggarwal graduated from the Maulana Azad Medical College, a medical college in New Delhi, India, in 1969. Dr. Aggarwal and his wife Nishi Aggarwal moved to Queens, NY in 1973. While in Queens, Dr. Aggarwal completed his residency and a fellowship in Hematology at Jamaica Hospital. Dr. Aggarwal subsequently completed an Oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
Dr. and Mrs. Aggarwal moved to East Liverpool with their 6 year old daughter and 6 month old son in 1980. Dr. Aggarwal initially set up a hospital practice in the office spaces adjoining the hospital and later moved to his newly constructed office space in 6th Street, across from City Hall, where he continued to practice for a total of 35 years. Although Dr. Aggarwal moved out of town in 2015, he continued to come back to the hospital to work with residents in the clinic and teach on a part-time basis until the end of 2022. He has deep ties to the community and feels immense gratitude to the families he treated over the years, the employees in his practice and his ELCH colleagues who have supported him over the years. His decision to move was a difficult one that took him over one year to make, primarily because he didn’t want to leave this community. Dr. Aggarwal is most proud of his kids who he raised in East Liverpool.
