State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel has expressed her support for House Bill 54, the State Transportation Budget, which was passed unanimously by the Ohio House. The bill aims to allocate funding for Ohio's transportation system and ensure its development.

Representative Robb Blasdel stated, "The passage of House Bill 54 represents a step forward for the State of Ohio, as we work to ensure all Ohioans benefit from a robust transportation network." She acknowledged the efforts of Chairman Willis, Finance Chairman Stewart, and Speaker Huffman in advancing this legislation.

House Bill 54 is designed to fund transportation infrastructure development and maintenance for fiscal years 2026-2027. It includes provisions that focus on preserving infrastructure, promoting economic development, and enhancing public safety.

The bill allocates over $393 million for new highway construction and establishes the Ohio Airport Improvement Program Fund to aid airports lacking federal grants. Additionally, it appropriates $15 million annually for the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program and increases funding for Transportation Improvement Districts (TIDs) to promote job creation.

In terms of public safety, House Bill 54 provides $382 million for targeted roadway safety upgrades over two years. It also commits more than $4.1 billion towards maintenance operations on existing highways.

Furthermore, the bill addresses election integrity by prohibiting voter registration through the BMV if records indicate ineligibility.

Ohio boasts a vast transportation network with significant interstate systems and rail miles. The state ranks high nationally in terms of bridges and active rail miles.

House Bill 54 will now proceed to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
