State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel recently participated in the Joint Energy and Public Utility Committee meeting in Pittsburgh, where she joined members of both the Ohio and Pennsylvania Legislatures. The meeting provided an opportunity for robust discussions and the exchange of insights on energy policy.

Robb Blasdel expressed her gratitude for the chance to engage with her colleagues from Pennsylvania, stating, "I was thankful to have the chance to have a robust discussion and gather insights on energy policy with members of the Legislature in Pennsylvania. We want to ensure more reliability on our energy grid, and I know this information will be beneficial for us as representatives and our residents in Ohio."

One of the key topics of discussion was grid reliability within the PJM (Pennsylvania, Jersey, Maryland) footprint. Robb Blasdel highlighted the potential negative impact of policies implemented in states like Illinois, New Jersey, and Maryland on Ohio's energy sector. As Ohio and Pennsylvania are significant energy consumers and generators in the region, Robb Blasdel emphasized the importance of making their voices heard, stating, "With Ohio and Pennsylvania being two of the largest energy consumers and generators in the region, our voice matters and we will make sure it is heard."

In addition to addressing immediate concerns, the representative emphasized the need for a long-term solution to ensure affordable energy for Ohioans. The goal is to provide reliable and accessible energy options that meet the needs of the residents.

Looking ahead, the next meeting with Pennsylvania will take place in Columbus in January 2024, providing another opportunity for collaboration and continued discussions on energy policy.

Robb Blasdel's participation in the Joint Energy and Public Utility Committee meeting demonstrates her commitment to representing the interests of Ohio residents and working towards a more reliable and affordable energy future for the state.
