It brings great pleasure to announce that Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM) has been granted full accreditation for a period of six years by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). ACCM has deemed that AUSOM is in “full compliance” with their standards, and stated that they were very impressed with the growth of AUSOM.
ACCM is an internationally recognized accrediting body which utilizes a rigorous, peer-review process that examines all aspects of a medical education program and only certifies medical schools which are operating at the highest levels of industry standards. The United States Department of Education recognizes ACCM as using standards comparable to the accrediting body for medical schools in the United States. Furthermore, by 2024 all medical schools in the Caribbean are required to be appropriately accredited by an approved accreditation body, such as ACCM, in order to receive their final certification needed for medical practice in the United States. With full accreditation, AUSOM graduates will continue to receive their final certification beyond 2024, and further elevate our status as one of the top-tier medical schools in the Caribbean.
